[22/10/2015] Eliza Niewiadomska, EBRD Legal Transition Programme (LTP), took part in the WTO Regional Workshop on government procurement which was organised in Vienna 20-22 October 2015 by the WTO Secretariat in co-operation with the Joint Vienna Institute, for the benefit of participants from Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus countries including the countries where the EBRD operates: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan among others.
The theme of the Workshop was: Government procurement and international trade disciplines: relevant WTO activities, regional developments and policy considerations for transition and emerging economies. The purpose of the Workshop was to provide a forum for both trade and procurement policy makers and experts to exchange information on national, bilateral, regional and multilateral trade-related activities and initiatives in the area of government procurement.
During Eliza’s presentation, Eliza spoke about EBRD’s support to countries pursuing accession to the WTO GPA. Ms Niewiadomska also spoke about the work of EBRD LTP on improvement of public procurement in the EBRD region.
In addition to the Worksop, Eliza Niewiadomska and Olivier Moreau will hold a project meeting with representatives of the Public Procurement Agency of Tajikistan in order to review draft law of the Republic of Tajikistan on public procurement.
